Howdy! Is there any thing such as Natural Antibiotics? What are they they? What do they do?
The word Anti (against) –biotic (life) refers to a list of pharmaceuticals antimicrobials designed to kill harmful bacteria in the body. The problem is that they kill both good and bad bacteria therby depleting the living microflora that support immune function.
Here are some natural antibiotics that may already be found in your kitchen.
* Raw Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV )
I cannot over emphasise the uses of ACV. It is perhaps the most useful kitchen material after baking powder.
Taken one or twice a day as a shot. The benefits range from antiseptic, antibiotic, anti-ageing, weight loss and much more. ACV is a great detox for the body and can be used as an astringent topically.
You shouldn’t be surprised that honey made the list. Its just heaven sent , it can be used for anything you can think of. Honey has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic action against certain bacteria or fungi.
* RAW GARLIC AND ONION
The sulphur compound are the key element for use as antibiotic. When crushed or chewed raw garlic has a property called Allicin which has high amounts of antiviral and antibacterial properties. Garlic helps in fighting a lot of diseases. Along with the family of onions it is used as a cancer preventive.
* TUMERIC &CAYENNE
Cayenne (Bawa) health benefits are numerous as discussed in this post . This red little pepper increases metabolism, help fight diseases.
Tumeric called Ata Ile pupa in yoruba is a bright yellow spice that gives curry their rich color and smoky flavour. It is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial. It also assists with allergies and metabolism. Try making it into a paste by adding water or honey and applying it to the infected part.
The essential oil (oil extracted from thyme leaves) is an effective disinfectant and natural preservative that is used in many skin preparations, not only for its therapeutic effect, but to protect the product itself from spoilage. Thyme is also an excellent treatment for bacterial acne.
Fruits and vegies high in vitamin C are considered a natural antibiotic. Cabbage juice is highly recommended in the treatment of stomach ulcers. Topically, raw cabbage leaves applied to tender breasts can relieve inflammation from mastitis, fibrocysts and menstrual breast tenderness.
Hope you learn a thing or two from this post. I would love to hear from you. As always comments and suggestions are welcomed.
